Landscape Guidelines for Propane Tanks

Whether you have an above ground or underground tank, you may disguise the tank (grass, shrubbery, fencing, etc. are acceptable) PROVIDED THAT:

1. Clear space for rain, ice, etc. to melt/move off and away from your tank. Ice-buildup can prevent the flow of propane into your home.
2. It is best to leave some visible sign of the tank. This assists the delivery driver to find your tank as well as any other contractors. Tanks that cannot be identified may be run over by lawnmowers, maintenance crews, vehicles.
3. In the case of underground tanks, do not cover over the top of tank with dirt.
